Super Space Sheriff Gavan Infinity (the first title in the newest Project R.E.D. series from Toei) has come to an end this weekend but successor Kakuseihunter Omegahorn will debut in its time slot on the 26th July.
The upcoming series is set to be a kaiju focused adventure about an archaeological scavenger named Shout teaming up with a kaiju named Enkaku and battling against “hunters.” Hunters use a Megaphone styled device mixed with Egorgears (this shows take on Emorgears from Gavan Infinity) to summon the power of Kaiju.
Finding a special “Kakuseiki Megahorn” and an Egorgear in sacred ruins, Shout summons Enkaku and the pair team up. When not in kaiju form, Enkaku is able to take on the guise of a human and hang out with shout as a secondary protagonist. The tagline for the show is “Raise your voice!” and will focus on the duo interacting with other hunters like Ibaru (below, right), a hunter with his own bonded kaiju named Zetsuenkaku who also uses a human form when out of battle. Also in the revealed character roster is Giriko (below, left), a semi rival hunter to Shout who may drift between acting as ally and enemy as the story progresses.
Protagonist Shout will be played by Sho Narahara from boy group Sevenic, with companion Enkaku being portrayed by Kunigami Masato who first made an appearance on the second season of reality show Produce 101 in 2021. Ibaru and Kaiju companion Zatsuenkaku will be performed by Shogo Tazuru and Eito Konishi while Giriko is played by Nanaha Itose. Nanaha was seen in an episode of Avataro Sentai Donbrothers in 2022 where she evolved into Kagakuki, a Hitotsuki that resisted attacking people and tried to focus on reclaiming her partners artwork.
The supporting cast will be comprised of ally characters All and Ail (seen left above) while supporting villains will be Baasaa and Genno (right). A further casting revealed the character of Reiji the Ironclad, played by Gavan Infinity star Kouhei Nagata.
Project R.E.D. is still in its infancy and it’s uncertain how Gavan Infinity and Omegahorn will be connected but the casting of Kouhei Nagata (formerly starring as Reiji Doki in Gavan Infinity) as Reiji the Ironclad certainly brings some questions. The character bio describes Reiji as coming from a distant place, potentially teasing a link to Gavan Infinity in some way. With Project R.E.D. being developed as a multiversal project and the further inclusion of Egogears bearing a striking resemblance to Gavan’s Emorgears we're excited to see how Project R.E.D. develops.
