A trailer for Mamoru Hosoda's upcoming anime movie Scarlet has been released ahead of the films debut in November. The film focuses on a princess seeking revenge after her father was murdered. Her goal is not simply to quell her own anger though as if she fails to get revenge she will end up in a purgatory and become nothingness, having lived a life unfulfilled.
The movie is shifting away from the look of Hosoda's other 2D animated works and leaning on 3D animation to complete its style. Hosoda is not unfamiliar with 3D animation, having utilized it for a number of digital environments used throughout his body of work (Digimon: Our War Game, Summer Wars, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Belle).
