No. 1 Sentai Gozyuger is just weeks from release and as Toei prepare to launch the 50th Sentai team into the limelight they have revealed the main cast and released a special Episode 0 prelude to the upcoming show.
At a reveal event in Japan, audiences and livestream viewers got to witness a short narrative piece introducing the new cast. Former red rangers unite for a special meeting before being hypnotised by a monster who claims to be the biggest Super Sentai fan.
As he prepares to destroy the audience and viewers at home, the new Gozyuger cast arrive. With individual battles to show off each new Sentai heroes personality and a big stunt finish as they all jump from the rafters to deal final blows to the Super Sentai fan, the cast got to stand as individuals and as a team to give audiences a taste of the dynamics we can except in the coming series.
The cast has been revealed as:
Fuyuno Miu as Gozyu Wolf (Red): An antisocial but kind character with the ability to track others through his sense of smell.
Hideharu Suzuki as Gozyu Leon (Blue): Charismatic hero with super hearing abilities
Maya Imamori as Gozyu Unicorn (Black): A psychic hero with a focus on family dynamics.
Jin Matsumoto as Gozu Eagle (Green): Described as a playboy, Eagle is revealed to have super speed abilities.
Kanda Masakazu as Gozyu Tyranno (Yellow): The most innocent of the team with super strength.
Yuki Kajio as TegaSword: this series main cast Mech.
Alongside the cast reveal, Toei also aired a special Episode 0 of the series on the Toei Tokusatsu Fan Club on the 2nd of February. This episode was a short 3D animated prequel to the series explaining the backstory of the No. 1 Sentai Gozuger universe.
The short showed previous Super Sentai mechs giving their power to the No. 1 Sentai Gozyuger mech (TegaSword) to try and quell a world ending calamity. While the TegaSword succeeded, their power split into Sentai Rings that scattered into the universe.
The plot of the series will focus on the team attempting to collect the Sentai Rings across the world as they battle “Number One Monsters” who take on the form of Sentai heroes. The team will also be competing amongst themselves for the rings to determine the best Super Sentai hero.
No. 1 Sentai Gozyuger will begin airing on TV-Asahi on the 16th of February.
