High Quality Version of Digimon 02 Outro Released in Build up to Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning

As the October release date for Toei Animation’s Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning fast approaches, their official Youtube channel has uploaded a throwback to the original animated series.

A high quality version of the second outro from the original Digimon Adventure 02 series was uploaded with the previously seen trailer for the new movie alongside it. Itsumo Itsudemo (Always, Anytime) by AiM was first heard in September of 2000 as the series moved into its 25th episode, where youngest member of the team Ken would prove himself to the rest of the squad. The song remained the end theme for the series until its conclusion in March of the following year.

The high quality outro was released in anticipation of the new movie

The outro utilises stills to display character art floating through space. One shot features the Digimon running in their In-Training forms as character art for the core human cast scrolls behind them. Another has static animation of full body art for our human heroes as their Champion form Digimon float by in the background. This is followed by a dynamic split screen effect of our heroes before going into action stills of the leads and their Digimon in combat poses.

Ai Madea voiced Mimi in the original series

Singer and of the theme Ai Maeda had appeared within the Digimon series herself, voicing multiple characters across the franchise but most notably voicing the role of Mimi Tachikawa in the Japanese language dub of the original series. Working under the name AiM in her singing career, she has contributed nine ending themes to the animated series since its release. In live action cinema, Ai played the role of Shiori Kitano in the Battle Royale franchise and had a leading role in the third Gamera movie of the Heisei era, Gamera 3: Revenge of Iris.

The film is a follow up to Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna

The new movie is set to release in Japanese cinemas on October 27th. The film is a follow up to the 2020 animated feature Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna that saw the original DigiDestined cast fighting to save the loss of their Digimon. A heartfelt love letter to viewers who grew up with that original cast, Kizuna was a big hit among fans and this sequel with the second generation of DigiDestined is hotly anticipated.

The gang witness a large DigiEgg in the sky

Set in 2012, the movie will serve as a final to the 2000 series as Daisuke and the core cast enter their twenties. The film is set to feature a character that claims to be the first ever DigiDestined, named Rui Owada. Rui arrives before the crew holding a cracked DigiVice as they witness a large DigiEgg hovering in the sky. Marketing claims that the “secret behind the birth of the DigiDestined” will be uncovered in this new movie.

There is currently no confirmation on when western audiences will be able to see Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning.
